Ben has worked in the brewing industry for 17 years. He has held every position, from retail sales to Head Brewer. He has a degree in Intensive Brewing Sciences and Engineering from The American Brewers Guild, and is a member of the Brewers Association and the Master Brewers Association of America. From 2002 through 2011 he worked for Midnight Sun Brewing Company in Anchorage, Alaska. There he became Head Brewer and was responsible for creating many recipes they still brew today. If you ever come across a Berserker Imperial Stout or a Meltdown Double IPA…those are Ben’s creations. In 2012 he moved to Mumbai, India to build and open The Barking Deer Brewpub, Mumbai's first microbrewery. After it's successful launch, he moved to Alameda, CA to become Head Brewer for the newly opened Faction Brewing. There he had the great opportunity to brew with and learn from longtime friend and owner of Faction Rodger Davis. After 3 years at Faction, Ben and his business partner and wife Anna Johnson started INOX Brewery Consulting. Their travels led them to Africa, India, Vietnam, Korea and eventually Guam. It only took one visit to know that Guam is where they wanted to open a brewery and live forever. Moving to the island in March 2018, they received an amazing opportunity when the owners of Mermaids Tavern and Grille offered up their brewery for sale. Opening in July of 2019, Ben looks forward to bringing his style of beer to the thirsty people of Guam. In addition to brewing, he has an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management and spent many years as a chef, so he is just as excited to bring his style of beer to Guam as he is his style of cooking!
